Hayley Heintze is the owner and Director of Sahara the Salon. Hayley joined the collective, previously branded under the franchise name Blow Dry Bar, in 2017 and has been advancing her skills and knowledge ever since, ultimately taking over the business and rebranding to Sahara the Salon in late 2022.

“My goal with Sahara the Salon, or any salon I’ve been involved in for that matter, has always been to create an open, inclusive, and inviting atmosphere that both my clients and employees could enjoy and be proud of. This is so important to me and the brand as a whole because I believe the possibilities become endless when you allow room for growth, both personally and professionally.”

Although Hayley first started in the hair industry when she was only 19 years old, she didn’t always see this as a career path for herself. Initially, she had wanted to go to school to become a paramedic, but that didn’t work out because it turned out that the Universe had bigger plans for her.

She started as an apprentice with a well-known Australian-based salon brand in 2016 and was halfway through her apprenticeship when the opportunity came to work at the female-owned salon franchise Blow Dry Bar in 2017. Hayley took the position and helped run the salon from front to back, which is when she truly fell in love with her career. She thrived in the BDB environment as both a stylist and a colourist for several years, but it wasn’t until she fell pregnant with her daughter in 2018 that she faced a career-changing decision.

Hayley had to decide whether just to rent a chair or open her own salon – though, admittedly, she had never put much thought into the latter idea until then. After three months off and six months of renting a chair, she found her first salon location – Glynburn Plaza. Opened right in the middle of COVID in 2020, Glynburn Plaza was created not only to adhere to the restrictions of the time but to be a community hub where women could come in, get pampered, maybe even get some work done, and leave feeling like the best versions of themselves. Through blood, sweat, and (only a few) tears, Hayley built the salon from the ground up, bringing together a team that she now considers more like family.

Beyond being the ultimate CEO of Sahara the Salon, Hayley loves exploring nature and spending time with her family, but her most important role in life alongside her husband is inspiring her daughter to live her authentic truth and always follow her passions.
